Date:

Gandhinagar (Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Museum in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and emphasized the importance of preserving India’s rich intellectual and cultural legacy for future generations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister reflected on India’s centuries-old knowledge tradition, noting that the country once possessed an immense repository of manuscripts, texts, and scholarly works covering diverse fields such as philosophy, science, governance, and spirituality. However, he said that many of these invaluable manuscripts were lost over time due to repeated invasions and later neglect.

Highlighting the government’s initiatives to revive and safeguard this heritage, Modi spoke about efforts such as the Gyan Bharatam Mission, which aims to preserve and digitize ancient manuscripts and knowledge systems using modern technology. He said the initiative represents a significant step toward ensuring that India’s intellectual heritage is protected and made accessible to future generations.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role played by saints, scholars, and spiritual leaders who preserved many of these manuscripts and traditions through centuries despite difficult circumstances. Their dedication, he said, ensured that India’s cultural and intellectual treasures survived for generations.

Modi described the current efforts to document and digitize ancient knowledge as part of a new cultural renaissance in India. By combining traditional wisdom with modern technology, he said, the country is not only preserving its past but also creating opportunities for research, innovation, and global knowledge exchange.

The Samrat Samprati Museum, named after the Mauryan emperor known for promoting ethical governance and cultural values, is expected to serve as a centre for learning and cultural awareness. The museum aims to showcase India’s historical contributions and inspire future generations to connect with the nation’s civilizational heritage.

The Prime Minister concluded by stressing that protecting India’s intellectual traditions and cultural identity is essential for building a confident and progressive nation.
