In a significant boost to the state’s infrastructure and administrative capacity, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday felicitated 161 candidates selected through the Arunachal Pradesh Engineering Services Examination (APESE) 2026 and handed them their appointment orders.

The newly recruited Assistant Engineers will serve across key departments including Public Works, Rural Works, Power, Urban Development, Public Health Engineering, and Water Resources. Their appointments are expected to play a vital role in strengthening infrastructure development and improving service delivery across the state.

Congratulating the candidates, Khandu praised their dedication and perseverance. He stated that their success reflects not only individual hard work but also the strong support system provided by their families. He extended his gratitude to parents and guardians for creating an environment conducive to preparation and achievement.

Highlighting the transformation in the recruitment system, Khandu pointed out that prior to 2016, the process faced issues related to lack of uniformity and transparency. However, he noted that the state government has since undertaken major reforms to ensure a fair and merit-based selection process.

A key milestone in this direction was the establishment of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board in 2017, along with structural reforms in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission following earlier irregularities. These changes, he said, have significantly improved the credibility of the recruitment system.

“Today, the recruitment process in Arunachal Pradesh is among the most transparent in the country,” Khandu asserted, adding that even candidates who were not selected have acknowledged the fairness of the system.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the responsibilities that come with the new roles. He urged the engineers to maintain integrity, professionalism, and a people-centric approach in their work. He stressed the importance of timely execution of projects, maintaining quality standards, and adopting innovative technologies suited to the state’s unique geographical conditions.

Reflecting on the broader development trajectory, Khandu highlighted the progress Arunachal Pradesh has made over the past decade. He reiterated the government’s commitment to contributing to the national vision of a developed India while also focusing on regional growth.

The appointment of 161 engineers marks a crucial step in strengthening governance and accelerating development in Arunachal Pradesh, aligning with the goals of “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Arunachal.”
