Arunachal Cabinet Hails PM Modi’s 25 Years in Government

Date:

The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, adopted a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government. At its meeting on Sunday, the Cabinet also approved measures covering technical education recruitment, women’s safety, healthcare, food safety and institutional renaming.

Adopted on the first day of Navratri, the resolution described service and commitment to the country as guiding principles of PM Modi’s public life.

It referred to major decisions during his leadership, including the abrogation of Article 370, the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the replacement of colonial-era criminal laws with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The resolution noted that Modi became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, and began his third consecutive term in June 2024.

The Cabinet approved recruitment rules for 12 categories of teaching and technical posts in government engineering and polytechnic colleges.

The rules follow the All India Council for Technical Education regulations of 2019 and cover positions such as principals, professors, associate professors, assistant professors and technical and laboratory staff.

According to the state government’s statement, the measures aim to support transparent, merit-based recruitment.

The Cabinet approved 20 posts to operationalise the Women Helpline-181 scheme under Mission Shakti. The round-the-clock service connects women in distress with emergency assistance, medical care, shelter, legal aid and counselling.

It also approved enhanced grade pay for various posts under the National Leprosy Elimination Programme to address wage disparities and strengthen patient-care services.

Additionally, five Food Safety Officer posts were sanctioned to improve food safety monitoring and enforcement across the state.

The Cabinet approved several institutional renamings to honour notable figures and community leaders:

  • Government College, Seppa: To be renamed Donglo Sonam Government College, Wessang, after late MLA Donglo Sonam.
  • Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo: To be renamed Punji Mara Government Higher Secondary School after former Taliha MLA Punji Mara.
