ITANAGAR, ARUNACHAL PRADESH — A workshop focused on skill development and employment generation was organised by the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, at Hotel Obsidian Blue in Itanagar on April 17, 2026. The event aimed to raise awareness about key government initiatives designed to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and expand their access to both domestic and international job opportunities.
The programme was addressed by Arunachal Pradesh Minister Nyato Dukam and Advisor Dr Mohesh Chai, who highlighted the importance of structured skill development programmes in driving economic growth and employment in the state. They focused on initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS), the Chief Minister’s Skill Development and Livelihood Scheme (CMSLS), and the Foreign Language Training Programme (FLTP).
During the session, the speakers подчеркнул that these schemes are aimed at enhancing employability among youth by providing practical training, industry exposure, and pathways to global careers. They stressed that the integration of skill development with real-world job requirements is essential for building a competitive workforce in a rapidly evolving economy.
Officials explained that PM-NAPS plays a crucial role in promoting apprenticeship-based learning by connecting trainees with industries, allowing them to gain hands-on experience while earning stipends. Similarly, the State Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (SAPS) was highlighted as a complementary initiative that strengthens local training ecosystems and ensures better alignment with regional employment needs.
Deputy Director Gyati Kacho elaborated on the impact of these programmes, stating that industry-linked training and practical exposure are key to preparing youth for real job environments. He noted that such initiatives not only enhance technical skills but also improve confidence and adaptability among participants.
Kacho also emphasized the role of CMSLS in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs by providing financial assistance and training support, enabling them to start their own ventures. He added that the Foreign Language Training Programme serves as a gateway to international employment opportunities, particularly by preparing candidates for overseas placements.
According to officials, the inclusion of attractive stipends under these schemes has significantly boosted participation among young people, making skill development programmes more accessible and appealing. This approach is expected to help create a future-ready workforce capable of meeting both national and global demands.
The workshop saw participation from students, job seekers, and training providers, who engaged in discussions on career pathways, skill enhancement, and employment prospects. Experts also shared insights on emerging sectors and the importance of continuous learning in a technology-driven world.
The initiative reflects the Arunachal Pradesh government’s commitment to strengthening its human resource base through targeted skill development programmes, ensuring that the state’s youth are well-prepared to seize opportunities in both domestic and global job markets.
