Nationwide Tributes Mark 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr B. R. Ambedkar !!

ITANAGAR , INDIA — India observed the 135th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar with nationwide tributes, commemorative events, and public participation, celebrating the enduring legacy of the principal architect of the Constitution and a champion of social justice.

President Droupadi Murmu paid floral homage at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Ambedkar’s contributions as foundational to India’s democratic and social framework. Leaders from across the political spectrum, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, also paid their respects, reflecting the widespread admiration for Ambedkar’s vision and ideals.

At Parliament House in New Delhi, leaders from different parties gathered to pay tribute, marking a moment of unity that underscored Ambedkar’s role as a unifying figure in Indian politics and society. His principles of equality, justice, and constitutional governance continue to guide the nation’s democratic institutions.

Ambedkar Jayanti, observed on April 14 as a national holiday, saw extensive participation across the country, with cultural programs, rallies, and educational initiatives आयोजित to honour his life and teachings. Citizens from various backgrounds came together to pay homage, highlighting the deep connection between Ambedkar’s legacy and contemporary social values.

Special initiatives were also organized to engage younger generations. The Congress party’s “Run for Ambedkar” marathon aimed to spread awareness about his contributions, while in Mumbai, the stock exchange building was illuminated in blue as a symbolic tribute. Such initiatives demonstrated the continued relevance of Ambedkar’s message in today’s India, particularly among youth and institutions.

Beyond India, commemorations were held internationally, including at the United Nations in New York, showcasing Ambedkar’s global influence as a thinker who advocated equality, dignity, and human rights. His ideas continue to resonate in global discussions on justice and inclusion.

Born in 1891, Ambedkar’s journey from overcoming social discrimination to shaping the Indian Constitution remains a powerful example of resilience and reform.
