ITANAGAR, ARUNACHAL PRADESH — Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) of NHPC Limited, along with senior officials, took part in a meeting during the visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports in Itanagar on April 21, 2026.

The visit was part of the committee’s effort to review development work and understand how different organisations are helping people on the ground. During the meeting, NHPC shared details about its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, especially in areas where it operates.

NHPC officials explained that the company is working on several projects to support local communities. These include education support, healthcare services, skill development programmes, and basic infrastructure improvements. Many of these projects are focused on helping people living in remote and rural areas, especially in northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh.

The committee members appreciated NHPC’s efforts and said that such work plays an important role in improving people’s lives. They said that public sector companies like NHPC should not only focus on business but also contribute to society through meaningful CSR activities.

The committee also encouraged NHPC to do more in the future. They suggested that the company should explore new ways to help people, especially women, children, and youth. This could include better education facilities, sports activities, job training programmes, and improved healthcare services.

NHPC Limited works under the Ministry of Power and is one of India’s leading hydropower companies. It has a strong presence in the northeastern region, where many of its projects are located. Because of this, the company regularly interacts with local communities and supports their development.

Officials said that meetings like this are important because they help connect government plans with real work on the ground. They also help companies understand what more can be done to support people in different regions.

The meeting in Itanagar was attended by several officials and stakeholders, showing a joint effort to improve development work in the state.

Overall, the visit showed that there is a strong focus on helping communities, improving living conditions, and creating more opportunities for people. NHPC also showed its commitment to continue and expand its CSR work in the future.

The discussion highlighted the importance of working together to ensure development reaches every section of society, especially in remote areas.
